Tragicomica, MAXXI, Roma
Produced in collaboration with the Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève and curated by Andrea Bellini and Francesco Stocchi, the exhibition brings together the work of over 130 artists, exploring the ironic element that runs through Italian culture. The philosopher Giorgio Agamben defined this as a 'stubborn anti-tragic intention' (Categorie italiane, 1996). This genuine sensibility is capable of addressing the most complex themes through a register linked to everyday life, with a continuous exchange between 'high' culture and popular culture.
