Atelier dell'Errore (AdE) [Atelier of Mistakes] is a collective dedicated to visual arts and performance based in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Founded in 2002 by Luca Santiago Mora, who today leads the group as its artistic director, AdE began as visual arts laboratory for neurodivergent children cared for by the pediatric health system of Reggio Emilia and Bergamo. In 2015, after almost a generation of work together some of the participants turned 18 and, no longer permitted within the pediatric public health system, decided to pursue their artistic practice professionally. From this urgent necessity, the AdE artistic collective was subsequently created, completely independent from the public health service. Since the collective’s foundation in 2015, the Collezione Maramotti has hosted AdE within their spaces as an ongoing project. Since 2018, and in close collaboration with the artists' families, AdE was established as a non-profit, cooperative art studio in which each artist is a partner. AdE finances itself through the sale of its works and professional collaborations. AdE approaches its most recent complex projects much like a contemporary Renaissance workshop, with each artist specialized in a particular phase of the work's execution. Luca Santiago Mora often likens AdE’s creative process to the functioning of an “organism,” in which each member has a vital, essential role, much like the organs of a body. Here each work is not only a creative creative endeavor, but also part of a larger relational process. The operating rules of AdE's artistic practice are few, but clear: “beyond zoological” creatures are the only subject matter, and during the creative phase nothing is ever erased, safeguarding and triggering the transformative and metamorphic potential inherent in every so-called “error.” Atelier dell'Errore’s work and performances have been exhibited in international galleries and institutions including: Laboratorio degli Angeli (2024), Richard Saltoun Gallery (2024), Palazzo Nuñez-Torlonia (2024), GAM, Torino (2022), THSN Foundation (2021), Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi (2021), MASSIMODECARLO (2021), Fondazione Cini (2019), Moretti Gallery(2016). The works of Atelier dell'Errore are present in the following public collections: Collezione Maramotti, Reggio Emilia; Galleria d'Arte Moderna, Turin; Generali Foundation, Venice.
